The Samsung Galaxy A36 8GB is the affordable star of Samsung's 2025 A-series lineup. It combines a large 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display with the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset, 8GB of RAM, and a triple camera led by a 50MP sensor with optical image stabilization. Samsung promises six generations of Android upgrades and six years of security updates, which remains rare in this price range.
On paper, the Samsung Galaxy A36 8GB targets buyers who want a dependable daily phone at a sensible price. In practice, it covers the essentials: a bright 120Hz screen, a 5,000mAh battery with 45W charging, IP67 dust and water resistance, and Samsung's Awesome Intelligence features. Few corners feel cut.
This page walks through every part of the phone in detail. You will find notes on design, display quality, performance, cameras, battery life, software support, strengths, and limitations. The goal is simple: help you decide whether this 8GB variant fits the way you use a phone.
Samsung announced the Galaxy A36 in March 2025 alongside the Galaxy A56. The A36 sits below the A56 with a Snapdragon chip, a plastic frame, and a simpler ultrawide camera. Meanwhile, it keeps the same large AMOLED display, 50MP main camera, big battery, and long update promise. This positioning makes it the value pick for buyers who want the Galaxy experience for less.
The Samsung Galaxy A36 8GB looks clean and modern, with flat edges and a minimal camera layout on the rear panel. Samsung used Gorilla Glass Victus+ on the front and back, paired with a sturdy plastic frame. As a result, the phone feels well put together, even if the frame lacks the metal touch of the pricier A56.
At 162.9 x 78.2 x 7.4 mm and 195 grams, the phone is tall but reasonably slim and light. The 6.7-inch screen makes one-handed use a stretch for smaller hands, though the flat sides give a secure grip. Samsung sells it in Awesome Black, Awesome White, Awesome Lime, and Awesome Lavender.
Durability stands out. IP67 certification means the phone survives dust and immersion in up to one meter of water for 30 minutes. The Victus+ glass resists scratches better than the plain glass used on cheaper rivals. Overall, the build inspires confidence for daily carry without a case, though a case still helps.
The 6.7-inch Super AMOLED panel is one of the phone's strongest assets. Resolution reaches 1080 x 2340 pixels (FHD+), which looks sharp at normal viewing distances. In addition, the 120Hz refresh rate keeps scrolling and animations fluid, adjusting dynamically to save battery when the screen shows static content.
Brightness impresses for an affordable phone. Samsung rates peak brightness at up to 1,900 nits, so the screen stays readable in direct sunlight. Moreover, colors look vivid without drifting into oversaturation, and deep blacks are a given with AMOLED technology. Video and photo viewing feel rich.
An optical fingerprint sensor sits under the display. It unlocks quickly and reliably once you register your thumb properly. Bezels are slim and even, which gives the front a modern look. For streaming, gaming, and reading, this display punches above its price.
For eye comfort, the screen includes an eye-comfort shield that reduces blue light in the evening. The always-on display shows time and notifications at a glance without fully waking the phone. In addition, outdoor visibility benefits from the high peak brightness, so maps and messages stay readable on sunny days.
Qualcomm's Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 powers the Samsung Galaxy A36 8GB. Built on a 4nm process, this octa-core chip balances performance and efficiency for everyday tasks. Graphics come from the Adreno 710 GPU, which handles casual gaming and smooth interface animations with ease.
In everyday use, the phone feels responsive. Apps open promptly, multitasking runs smoothly, and the 120Hz display rarely stutters. For example, the chip handles popular games at medium settings with stable frame rates. Demanding titles may ask for lowered settings, but casual and mid-tier gaming poses no problem.
Thermals stay under control. The phone warms up during long gaming sessions or 4K recording, yet it never gets uncomfortably hot. Samsung's cooling keeps performance steady under load. For social media, browsing, photography, and office apps, the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 delivers enough headroom for daily life.
Samsung's RAM Plus feature can extend usable memory by borrowing storage space. As a result, the phone keeps more apps alive in the background during heavy multitasking. Overall, the combination of the Snapdragon chip and 8GB of RAM handles typical apps comfortably.
This variant ships with 8GB of RAM, which suits most users well. Multitasking stays smooth with a dozen apps in memory, and RAM Plus can borrow storage space as virtual memory when needed. However, heavy users who juggle many apps might prefer the 12GB variant, though 8GB covers typical daily workloads comfortably.
Storage options include 128GB and 256GB, using fast UFS 3.1 flash. App installs and file transfers feel snappy. Note that Samsung removed the microSD slot on this model, so choose your storage size carefully at purchase. Cloud storage or USB-C drives can cover extra needs later.
The Samsung Galaxy A36 8GB carries three rear cameras. The main 50MP sensor (f/1.8) brings optical image stabilization and captures detailed, balanced photos in daylight. The 8MP ultrawide (f/2.2) handles landscapes and group shots with acceptable edge sharpness. A 5MP macro lens covers close-up shots, though its resolution limits fine detail.
Low-light performance benefits from Samsung's Nightography processing. Night shots show controlled noise and usable detail, especially with the main camera. In addition, the OIS helps keep handheld evening photos sharp. Colors stay natural rather than over-processed, which suits most tastes.
Video recording reaches 4K at 30fps on both the rear and front cameras. Electronic stabilization smooths out walking footage, while the OIS steadies the main sensor. The 12MP front camera (f/2.2) takes clear selfies and handles video calls well. Samsung's Awesome Intelligence adds tricks like Best Face for group shots and Auto Trim for highlight reels.
Samsung's photo editor includes AI tools like Object Eraser and Best Face. For instance, you can remove passersby from travel shots or pick the best smile in a group photo. These features work on-device and feel genuinely useful rather than gimmicky.
A 5,000mAh battery powers the Samsung Galaxy A36 8GB through a full day for most users. Mixed use with social apps, browsing, calls, and some video typically leaves charge in the evening. Heavy gaming or long camera sessions drain it faster, but reaching bedtime on one charge is realistic.
Charging runs at up to 45W over USB-C. Samsung says a 30-minute top-up adds a large share of battery, and a full charge takes roughly an hour. However, the phone ships without a charger in the box, so you may need a compatible 45W adapter to reach top speeds. Wireless charging is not supported on this model.
Battery health features help the cell age gracefully. Adaptive charging learns your routine and slows overnight charging to reduce wear. Power-saving modes extend standby time when you travel. Overall, battery life ranks among the phone's practical strengths.
The Galaxy A36 supports 5G on sub-6GHz networks, plus Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, and NFC for contactless payments. Positioning covers GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, BDS, and QZSS for accurate navigation. USB-C handles charging and data transfer, and Samsung Wallet works through NFC where supported.
SIM options vary by region: most markets get dual nano-SIM or nano-SIM plus eSIM. There is no 3.5mm headphone jack, so wired audio needs a USB-C adapter. Meanwhile, the stereo speakers sound clear and loud enough for video, though bass stays modest.
Samsung Knox Vault protects sensitive data like PINs and biometrics in dedicated hardware. The phone also supports ecosystem features such as Quick Share and SmartThings. These extras help the A36 sit comfortably in a Samsung household.
The phone ships with Android 15 and Samsung's One UI 7. The interface feels clean and responsive, with solid customization for the home screen, always-on display, and edge panels. Samsung's apps integrate well, and pre-installed extras stay manageable.
Awesome Intelligence brings AI features to the affordable range. Circle to Search looks up anything on screen with a simple gesture. In addition, Object Eraser cleans up photo backgrounds, while Best Face picks the best expressions in group shots. Live Translate assists with calls in other languages.
Update support leads the segment. Samsung promises six generations of Android OS upgrades and six years of security patches. A phone bought in 2025 therefore stays current well into the next decade. Consequently, long support like this protects your investment and keeps the phone secure far longer than most rivals manage.
Samsung's ecosystem features add convenience for Galaxy owners. For example, Quick Share sends files to nearby Samsung devices in seconds, while SmartThings controls smart home gadgets from the phone. Link to Windows connects the phone to a PC for messages and calls.
The Samsung Galaxy A36 8GB gets a lot right for its price. Specifically, its strengths cluster around the display, battery, cameras, and software support.
No phone is perfect, and the A36 has a few trade-offs worth knowing before you buy.
The Samsung Galaxy A36 8GB suits buyers who want a reliable all-rounder with a great screen and long software support at a fair price. Students, commuters, and family users will appreciate the battery life, durable build, and simple One UI experience. It also works well as a first Samsung phone for someone moving from another brand.
Casual gamers get smooth performance in popular titles, though demanding players may want a faster chip. Similarly, photography enthusiasts get a strong main camera but should know the secondary lenses are modest. Business users benefit from Knox security and Samsung's ecosystem tools.
The phone suits less well anyone who needs expandable storage, wireless charging, or a compact body. Those buyers should look at other options or accept the trade-offs.
A few checks help you buy with confidence.
Yes. The phone supports 5G on sub-6GHz networks, with 4G LTE fallback. Actual speeds depend on your carrier and coverage.
No. Samsung removed the microSD slot on this model. Storage is fixed at 128GB or 256GB, so pick the size that fits your needs.
Samsung promises six generations of Android OS upgrades and six years of security updates. That ranks among the longest policies in the affordable segment.
Yes. It carries an IP67 rating, which means protection against dust and immersion in up to one meter of fresh water for 30 minutes.
No. Charging is wired only, at up to 45W over USB-C. Samsung does not include a charger in the box.
Samsung includes the phone, a USB-C cable, a SIM ejector tool, and a quick start guide. The charger and protective case are sold separately.
The Samsung Galaxy A36 8GB is a well-rounded affordable phone with few real weaknesses. Its bright 120Hz AMOLED display, efficient Snapdragon performance, dependable 50MP camera, and all-day battery cover daily needs with room to spare. Finally, the Victus+ glass and IP67 rating add durability that cheaper rivals often skip.
Six years of software support seal the deal for buyers who keep phones for a long time. If you can live without expandable storage and wireless charging, the Samsung Galaxy A36 8GB delivers strong value. Check current prices and carrier compatibility, and you will likely find it an easy phone to live with.
